You've made it through adolescence

finished college, then got engaged

I'll cry the day, you go away

and lament on just how I've aged

I will be right there beside you

 proudly walking you down the aisle

Then let you go, face all a-glow

My daughter Aris's life is about to change. Her fiance is arriving home tonight on a flight from Afghanistan. I am going to be the man who walks her down the aisle fulfilling her childhood dream of getting married to prince charming. Has it really been that long?

touches my heart (i have two daughters) ... your poetry moves me to wish we shared a fence to talk over .. and this one moves me to join you in blessing your daughter and soon to be son-in-law .. most likely he is a military man is he is in Afghanistan .. so he goes to my prayer for protection and safe home coming in every way .. we do get to know each other a bit on a forum like this one .. so perhaps our yards are not so far removed ;) what an inspiring tribute to your daughter Aris!

Thank you He is getting out of the army he went to college on rotc and had to serve in Afghanistan but is now going to go get his masters out of the army he agrees with me that the army is too hard on a marriage and he wants to be a lawyer
