For many of the years of my life I wondered why I never felt at home when I traveled far and wide? Then as I aged it came to me. There is a reason birds fly back to where they were born and fish swim thousands of miles to spawn in the rivers they were born from. Who we are is as simple as where we came from. So I came home to start a family and pass that to my own children.

We spend a fair sir sized chunk of our lives, reachinh for the infinite possibilities of the horizon, striving for that place that will scratch the itch in our wandering souls, yet how true your words are, that most times, it was only calling us to see other places, so that we could feel these words about where home really is. And what it is for that matter. The air that carries the smells we grew used to and the people and places that are all part of the jigsaw of us.
Beautiful and hearyfelt.

Indeed, it is good to have a feel for one's homeland and place. I wouldn't know what to do without my beloved Appalachians. They run through my blood and reside in my heart and soul; the food, the people, the mountains, the music...just all of it. It's a rich heritage left by the oldest mountains on the earth and I am happy to have my part of it. I'm glad for you that you have this connection with your roots as well.

It's fine. Not on this site anymore anyway. You're a good guy.
I often wish I had been born in the mid-west despite its well known harsh weather that can pop up from time to time. Though it may demand hard work, life seems so much simpler and the lands much more beautiful and free. Nice one Tate.

Yes, absolutely, it can become addicting if we're not careful.
