A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Oh please just let me be gracious and smile when the day draws near Then wish him well, as time will tell if I can overcome my fear

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
I knew this this day would come. It is so near I can taste it. I will walk out to see him off with a smile upon my face. Give him the speech I like to call "what it means to be a man". Tell him to trust his instincts. Never take something for nothing. Never take unfair advantage of another nor let them take unfair advantage of him. Help those who need it and respect all the women in his life. "Son the value of a man lies not in what he owns, but in what he gives to others". Then I'll wave as he sets off, as my heart simply breaks.

Well that really upset me. I've got tears in my eyes right now. My son was 19 last week and had his heart broken for the first time. I sat and held him tight for a very long time.
A fathers bond with his son is for life. Do not fear that you are loosing him. You will be needed more than you know in the years to come.
if you build a house on firm foundations it will last a life time.
Excellent my friend.
This one is going in my favorites

I love the way you say so much so simply, I felt all you said, one day soon it will my turn to say goodbye to my son how bitter sweet that day will be. You've loved him and taught him well. He knows I'm sure that you will always have a place for him should he need you and he will be back many times for some more wise and loving words. Very special Tate.

Well Taters, you managed to bring me to tears this morning. Uff lol A beautiful piece of work, both poem and son. Spring isn't it, when fledglings take to wing..and so to pieces of our hearts, who return for visits and advice. Well Done Poet and Father !

This is a fantastic poem that definitely touches the heart. A father and son bond is so strong and true. You're always there for him, he knows that... You will always have him, you're not losing him, he is just becoming more independent.

I loved this one, Tate.

I liked it, having all the images and 'memories' makes it more powerful.
For me, this poem is all about a beautiful bond and a time of transition. The bond will always be. These are some of the most moving, loving sentiments I have read. Outstanding poetry here, wonderfully presented. Penny
