Oh please just let me be gracious and smile when the day draws near Then wish him well, as time will tell if I can overcome my fear

I knew this this day would come. It is so near I can taste it. I will walk out to see him off with a smile upon my face. Give him the speech I like to call "what it means to be a man". Tell him to trust his instincts. Never take something for nothing. Never take unfair advantage of another nor let them take unfair advantage of him. Help those who need it and respect all the women in his life. "Son the value of a man lies not in what he owns, but in what he gives to others". Then I'll wave as he sets off, as my heart simply breaks.

Well that really upset me. I've got tears in my eyes right now. My son was 19 last week and had his heart broken for the first time. I sat and held him tight for a very long time.
A fathers bond with his son is for life. Do not fear that you are loosing him. You will be needed more than you know in the years to come.

I feel the same about my daughter. This is beautiful. I recently took a technology course, and the instructor taught us how to make a movie, include text, include voice, and include music; perhaps I will post one of them someday after I tweak them. Tate this is the most beautiful thing I have ever felt... I have done as you and out of five children I have one left at home... It hurts and scares me each time and yet I know it is what we must do... I smile in amazement at what my children have accomplished and the parents some of them have become...

Kids always need their parent more than you. They may not show it enough for us to know it, but are happy and appreciate when we are there to care with all our heart. When they are older they will thank you for it all.

Those are good things to tell and have it instilled in him. But I'm sure all that you're doing it's already in him to be a fine citizen and treat people well as he knows he should be treated well in return. We will not ever be perfect, but as long we do what we can they will be alright, even though hard to let go when they are ready to leave the nest.
