My Beloved Wife

My Beloved Wife

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

So like am I a grain of sand I compare my lifes own worth To all who were my ancestors sharing roots of each others birth

"

Rebecca and I

I am the little leaf falling

feeling but half my worth

No more to wave in the breeze

to heaven from this earth

I alone do think I dream

of the love I wish to live

I myself do think I want

much more than I can give

She sees in me what I cannot

making fast my hope and stare

She holds this heart with tenderness

her love lay everywhere

So like am I a grain of sand

I compare my lifes own worth

To all who were my ancestors

sharing the roots of each ones birth

As autumn falls upon my world

should the birds no longer sing

Will there be nothing left to give

but a prayer upon a wing

"Love you Mamma and Papa"

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
Whenever I think the best is all behind me I look to my blessings. There I see the joys of my wife and granddaughter and the hope they embody therein. Though there may be fewer days ahead than behind. It is quite evident they will be every bit as beautiful.

We are part of our ancestors and their faces and thoughts become our dreams and hope also. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

This is beautiful Tate. You have covered so much in this little beauty. The wonders of poetry! If I could express my appreciation of this poem, as well as you wrote the poem, I'd be happier than I am right now!

There are two things in life that are most important, our "roots" (family), and the person we choose to walk side by side with in this world (our mate). Nothing else is really of immense importance, and nothing else should effect our hearts as much as these two things.

You have captured the essence of embracing your past and your future at the same time. The way that you describe your "beloved wife" is so beautiful, because that is what a relationship should be; seeing something in a person that they cannot see in themself.

Well written and well crafted. Another great one, my friend.

Oh Sarah Thank you
You write with calm assurance Tate. I don't feel your writes reaching or longing as much as they tend to own the space they are written in.
Maturity of the emotional centers drives a poem like this.
My favorite line was, "Her love lay everywhere".
All we have to do is stop, open ourselves to discovery and see the love around us...
A fine addition to your body of work. Thank you for sharing this thought.

These words "She sees in me what I cannot" show such feeling and emotion. It is quite a blessing to have one who sees the best within you.

This is such a tender write sir. i feel that the way you feel and see your wife mirrors the way she feel and see you. Both of you are so blessed to have each other. and i am so glad to see a man, who is so very vocal of his love for his wife.

yes, the days left will be counted , every second, every minute will be filled with God's gifts that we never took the time to notice before when the path had no end in sight. I think it is our duty to open the eyes of our grandchildren early to appreciate all that is good and beautiful in the world.A lovely poem for your dear wife Tate..

every new day is a small miracle Tate....
So amazing to see a man pen his heart out onto paper. Your Rebecca is one loved woman. My husband is no poet, he pours his heart out to me with his hands. He carves beautiful bowls out of old discarded wood. I have bowls everywhere! Beautiful, Tate!
