My Beloved Wife

My Beloved Wife

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

So like am I a grain of sand I compare my lifes own worth To all who were my ancestors sharing roots of each others birth

"

Rebecca and I

I am the little leaf falling

feeling but half my worth

No more to wave in the breeze

to heaven from this earth

I alone do think I dream

of the love I wish to live

I myself do think I want

much more than I can give

She sees in me what I cannot

making fast my hope and stare

She holds this heart with tenderness

her love lay everywhere

So like am I a grain of sand

I compare my lifes own worth

To all who were my ancestors

sharing the roots of each ones birth

As autumn falls upon my world

should the birds no longer sing

Will there be nothing left to give

but a prayer upon a wing

"Love you Mamma and Papa"

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
Whenever I think the best is all behind me I look to my blessings. There I see the joys of my wife and granddaughter and the hope they embody therein. Though there may be fewer days ahead than behind. It is quite evident they will be every bit as beautiful.

We are part of our ancestors and their faces and thoughts become our dreams and hope also. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

just beautiful! i relate to every word of this one Tate! but those last two verses are exquisite for me .. we sure do hit that age when looking back seems all there is ..our purpose completed ..kids are grown...grand kids growing and such fleeting joys when the visit ... so myself and me bride have joined the Silver Sneakers and enjoy the aqua class together ;) just enjoyed the read very much ..points me to the appreciation of that wonderful woman :))

This is absolutely heartwarming, beautiful and genuinely written. I have rarely read a poem in which I feel as warm and inspired as this. Keep up the great work. There are countless days ahead. :)

It was my pleasure.
Tate, this is truly a splendid piece. All of the stanzas are gorgeous, and it's so nice to see a man who is in true adoration of his wife, and willing to write about it. We share a commonality; I am also blessed by a wonderful wife. I liked all of the stanzas in this piece, but the first really grabbed me and set a great tone for the rest of the piece. I love the line "her love lay everywhere". Really nice work, Tate. I am so glad that we have met, and that I can now view your work. Take care.

Hi Pryde Thank you I suppose we all compare ourselves to those who came before us
She's in a class all her own. What a blessing to share love completely and never walk alone on more through this life and the next. My wife and I are LDS (Mormon). There is an ordinance called sealing. It is the union between and wife that goes beyond till death do you part. An eternal marriage beyond this life. This was marriage in the beginning that started with Adam and Eve but has and continues to be corrupted by man.

What a beautiful dedication/tribute to your lovely wife. I've always admired a man that can express his feelings about his spouse without feeling obligated too do so, but rather wanting to. A true gentleman like my hubby, I applaud you Tate :)

A small poem with abundant love and passion.....The best thing of a woman's life is to have a husband who considers her as his worth. Thanks for sharing this poem
