Stand By Me

Stand By Me

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Love immortal and unchanging devotion spans the wall Over which we go exchanging our smiles with one and all

"
Becky and I
Becky and I

We seek a kind and faithful friend

devotions sweet flower

One who will stand by till the end

lighting the darkest hour

Love immortal thoughts exchanging

devotion scales the wall

There we share our love unchanging

with smiles for one and all

Her guiding hand which proves so sound

my inner soul to see

Oh may no love that's ever found

mean more than she, to me

To have a great lifelong friend is one of the greatest and most profound experiences. I would encourage all who have not done so to try it. The answer to all who would topple your life is the unwavering devotion of a friend

That last stanza is poetic perfection. Immaculate. This whole piece is powerful and incredibly tender, you are so lucky to know love and to have been loved in this way... I enjoyed this poem very much, you're a remarkable writer, Tate. 1

We have those connections with people whom are always there through the good and the bad. True friendship is a blessing in this chaotic world.

I love your words and feeling that are penned in this piece!!

That is definitely true. I keep a small circle myself
I love this write Tate and totally agree with its message. I lost my lifelong friend last year and feel such a hole in my heart and emptiness in my spirit. We had known each other for 60 years...almost our entire lives. You've written about this kind of friendship with loving beauty. ~Sharon

Thank you Richard. I’m honored and humbled
You've captured the essence of a best friend in the lines of this poem. You said it best above "The answer to all who would topple your life is the unwavering devotion of the great friend!" If I can make any suggestion, it would be to get that quote into your poem somehow, either way it is a beautiful tribute to best friends.

Indeed, friends for life are no different than family. To have someone like that in your life is a blessing. Excellent poem.

Well i have such a friend myself as well and i can tell you it lends value to ones life
you speak of walls that are more porous than mine so to know other walls exist is a comforting thought I guess? From my walls I exchange gunfire instead of smiles and maybe in my upper years I may change and use these words that you have penned to destroy these old walls so I can hang up your poem on the new one(s) that may or may not need to be erected? very inspirational write.....
