Angelee

Angelee

A Poem by arileggett

The great wall of division separated me from my Angelee.

Torn by the firm words of God, I longed for my Angelee.

She was an angel with a true heart and pure soul

Pursued by a man of wicked ways. My Angelee.

I was a sinner -- an outlaw of the Church of God

Intrigued by the innocence and beauty of my Angelee.

Their disapproval kept our bodies not our love apart,

But it was not long before I craved the touch of my Angelee.

And every night, under the setting sun, behind the Temple of Faith

I laid in the Garden of Eden with my Angelee.

For me, she had fallen from grace. Sacrificed her

Wings, and turned the other way. My Angelee.

The damned, the saved, and a sin worth committing,

To marry, I ask for the hand of my Angelee.

And together, side by side, we led the fallen.

I fought for freedom to love my Angelee.
