Walking down the streets of Jerusalem
the smells waft through my nose familiar to my heart my nose my face brightens feels alive again I remember the sounds of nachloat how the hippies gesture to me and smile at me hanging out on Shabbat mornings and nights eating chulent singing Jewish songs starting up at the old ancient stones at the palm trees feelign blessed hearing Hebrew ring in my ears burgers waft through the air walking through the shuck hearing Arabic and Hebrew seeing children teenagers feeling alive feeling my smile through my chest the glory of feeling alive waking through Haifa the city I now call my home walking down the beach greeting others with joy watching the waves roll over the land watching others enjoy their life their coffee their smiles the simple life my life in America I was taught it needed to be complicated dressed up fancy all about show and appearance I stare at the women around me the lines mark their face of a life well lived happiness in the simple things I think I like this little life
