Chasing Icarus

Though I can't hold you back,
I refuse to chain your heart.
You deserve to soar towards the sun's embrace,
to discover a brand new start.
The handsome Aphrodite finally flees from Hephaestus’ desire.

You deserve more.

So take your time,
find the glittering glimmer that lights your way,
a flicker in the vastness, guiding you further from me.
I'll be here in the shadows,
wishing that this Icarus makes it to the Sun.
With feathered wings unfurled, I watched you rise,
embracing the whispering winds that guide you higher.

Further and further
From this bitter past.

Remember the lofty laughter,
the moments we shared,
while I try my best to forget.
Bright as sunlight breaking through clouds,
yet tinged with an aching absence.
fireflies flutter in the twilight,
the whispers in the dark,
let careless conversations linger heavily upon only me.

Life has its seasons.
spring’s beaming blossoms fell prey to winter’s chill,
only to yield to autumn's bittersweet farewell.
Love means letting go,
but as you race towards the Sun, beware the heat,
for waxen wings may melt beneath the fiery glow.
Ambition fuels the heart's desire,
yet love's tether pulls me back from the burning fire.

I miss your embrace,
yet I wish peace to adorn your face.

Shadows are not too far behind the light,
constantly yearning its closeness.
become the wounded heart that emerges from the cracks.

Chase your dreams,
let them lead you away,
as rivers carve their paths through the earth.
Just know that in this world,
I'll treasure what we had every day.

And if paths should cross again,
when the stars align,
I'll greet you with a smile,
so warm, so divine.

For love isn't lost,
it merely transforms,
into memories cherished,
echoes of laughter that linger in the air,
like the gentle calm wind after bitter storms.

So go on, my dear,
and seize what’s meant to be.
For in your joy, I find solace,
and that’ll have to be enough for me.
