A Mother's LoveA Poem by Imelda BlackheartThis was something I wrote for my mom whenever I was eight for Mother's Day. I think it's kind of cute, so I decided that other people might enjoy it as well. So... enjoy!A Mother’s Love A mother’s love is a gift from above, Floating gently through our lives with the wings of a dove, A beacon of light, the rainbow after the storm, As joyful as the sun in the early morn. And all the little things you say or do, Well, I just want you to know that I always knew, In the way you laugh or how you smile, That your love for us could stretch on for miles. Sometimes we argue, sometimes we fight, But when I go to bed angry I just can’t sleep right, Because even in the times when I think you’re wrong, I can’t stay made at you because, well, you’re my mom. Tears have been shed as my heart felt broken, But your presence reassured me, even when you hadn’t spoken, I felt like I was weak as I wept, my heart a mournful song, But you let me know that I wasn’t weak; I had been strong for too long. And I know I want you to know that I believe in you strength, I know when you do what you love nothing can stand in your way, But keep this in my as through your dreams you sift: A mother’s love is the greatest gift.
