I Miss Those DaysA Poem by Imelda BlackheartA simple poem about a friendship muddled by love.
I Miss Those Days
I miss those days when we could fly, Our bodies leaping through the sky, At least, that was how it seemed, With the friendship between you and me. Almost always scraped knees and buck-tooth smiles, Everyday was magic that seemed to stretch miles, And even when we were away, we weren’t, Because our friendship was always sound and sure. But as all good things come to an end, so did this, And I never imagined moments that weren’t pure bliss Because we started growing, more than we could ever know But as our bodies shifted, our feelings did also. I miss the days when all was still, When feelings weren’t as hard to kill When secrets remained buried and promises stayed true, With a smile to the people you never knew. Now you tell me you love me, then change your mind, Then say you’re sorry and ask for me just one last time, I’ll send you away with a broken heart, Because I know I shouldn’t have even let this start. I miss the days when we were just friends Our very lives tied from end to end When we could sit together and I wasn’t afraid That you would start to make this clear dream fade But I am strong; I will not fade I will not miss you one more day This is the mess you made, now reap what you sow And don’t come back when you cry in woe. But I miss the days of me and you, When the sun was bright and the sky was blue, But now everything seems to take on a shade of gray Ever since that day when you threw me away. © 2013 Imelda BlackheartReviews
