Men and Boys

Men and Boys

A Poem by justAnumber

A young boy reaches out,
yet, there is no helping hand,
for the one that should be,
is one of a drunken man.
The boy is pale from malnutrition,
and only has color of blue and black,
the man drowns in alcohols,
ownership of actions lack.
Years do pass, bruises heal,
bones get broken, stories made,
Man not inconvenienced,
sure, not him to blame!
Boy tires of parental abuse,
steps up to the plate,
As the man indulges in drink,
the boy serves bat to face.
Blow after blow,
boy still stands,
Man not responsive,
boy becomes man.
