A Time Between Times

 

History tells of the events that bide time

Only to leave out the times in between

Great wars come one after another

Anneals now past never to brother

 

Of those lost in the times between

Love and hate carry and demean

Making life to be lived at its extreme

With doubt for wonder believe redeemed

 

The lapse between where children are raised

Into men that never fight

There’s no war in their life’s path

They are lost in times between

 

Never looked on as patriots, never looked on as not

He was too young for the first war and too old for the next

He is in between the times of glory

Never to know his worth in the scheme of things

wonderful poem. My dad never saw a war. He was retired USAF. 1964 to 1983. My grandfathers all served in various wars as did many uncles and other relatives. "They are lost in times between...." Yes.

I hate war and wish none of our young men had to ever go and fight for our country..Take the last few years of war in the east and what if anything have we accomplished..nothing..The Bible said to the hand maid when she took her son into the wilderness after Sarah finally had a son..I will build you a great nation..BUT..it will always be a waring nation..God was right..I would have been thanful if my brothers had not had to go to war..Thought provoking write..Valentine

A wonderful look at discovering purpose, I suppose. In between the fights, what is there possibly to live for when all you're built to do is the war?
