Lady Godiva

Lady Godiva

A Poem by Greg the Bard

Lady Godiva

(Sung to the Beatles “Lady Madonna”)

Lady Godiva, children at your feet

Wonder how you mange to make ends meet

Along came your daddy laid the toll upon

The heads of the homeless as now their gone

Friday night finds her daddy weeping

He can’t seem to have any fun

Monday’s child has learned to lie to his face

See how it’s done

Lady Godiva, naked to the bone

Rides out to protest some of daddies’ fun

Papa, Papa

See how she shines

Lady Godiva, lying on the bed

Peeping Tom is playing music in your head

Tuesday afternoon she was willing

Wednesday morning she had her doubts

Thursday night in stockings a waiting

See how she rides

Lady Godiva, children at your feet

Wonder how you manage to make ends meet
