Golfing with Gary

Golfing with Gary

A Poem by G.D.Gregory (donate What You Can To Starving Writers) Prose’s!

I stood upon a Tee today

The ball set aloft a stick

My club I held with soft a grip

To hear the ball go click

The contours of the fairway slight

Trees abound in scores

To render stoppage of the flight

With elms that gang too gorge

Time slows as I approach the ball

As if the ball can see

The thunderous club I hold for thee

To send you on your way

My thought is true and my swing is broad

Slow at first to power thru

My body toques

The club comes down I missed the ball again

Abject laughter comes from behind

My colleague’s mirth abounds

It’s a whiff today in my play

All the ill’s I can resound

A curse word here the evil eye

That orb I do hate now

Just swing again to amend

Hit the ball just this one time

A hit I got on the second swing

On this the first tee of the day

My cohorts three see my displeasure

The orb now rest in the trees

Jack would groan Bobby would have awed

Lee would have made a joke!

I look down the fairway and pray to God

Please Lord give me hope today
