A Stand

A Stand

A Poem by Greg the Bard

A Stand

The heart strings of the guitar sing

Lending depth to the emotions gained

Retrospect the look is set

To show a mood now becoming regret

For once the look lingers into day

The night will fall as if in play

A man’s mind wonders

Where women’s seldom care to go

A lark, a frolic, a game of joy

Pleasure, passion, lust not withdrawn

She believes it always comes at a cost

Whose price in later life is never enough?

Is a woman’s virtue cradled between her legs?

Blessed here only by the will of grace

Given virtue … a time once gone

By virtue her legs undone

And the cost is well in advance

Of the true feelings of the one it is shared with

Can there be a true relation between two?

Is it worthy of thought?

A man respects that which he can

His only reason an act of suppression

The only regret a child not expected

More out of ignorance that just cause

The little ones smile captures its fathers smile

The bright sparkling eyes

The amazement of the big guy standing there

The rebuke of the mother that feels ashamed

That she gave into this man in the first place

Deciding to live a life she doesn’t really want
