ConflictA Poem by Greg the BardConflict The wind sweeps silently across the open ground Little stands in the way of its erosion The cement aircraft bunkers whistle in their stance No activity, no movement, nothing The years have been hard on the landscape But still the bunkers stand Waiting for the next conflict Waiting for the next war! Silent in its nature the cold war Kills from within Hot are the metal storms of hate Real work for the devil Economic dissolution a bankers delight Yet the driving factor for all wars The more complicated the dissolution The greater the conflict The patriot will die for the public They have set their souls on it Those needing the killing of others In order to maintain a standard of living There is no difference in modern war Than the cause of past wars People through their leaders Wanting something they cannot find elsewhere There is no greater war Than the present one Children crying for their fathers gone Mothers knowing what hate will bring Children growing into soldiers Their cause unrelated to justice Strike out to revenge Their father’s death No father there to teach them That revenge never bring happiness Never bring life where none will never Grow © 2011 Greg the BardReviews
