The sound of the Itunes record was loud

Emptiness fell across my thoughts

As pleasant as a cool breeze on a hot day

With little if anything to convey

 

The artist of the song being sung

Was known for levity and short phrases

Giving a real meaning to life

Desperate for justice in thought

 

Then the song ends

Leaving me with a thought

From many years before

When I was much younger

 

Girls growing into beautiful women

The misunderstanding of sexuality

The hurt that was not meant

The awakening of the want of companionship

 

She looked at me with a light smile

Her eyes sparkled

I wanted to be with her at that very moment

To hold her hand and tell her of my love

 

And then a new song came on the recorder

Giving me advice as to what I should do

Understand that her look was for someone else

Not for you

 

Is the hurt less a stress?

Than an understanding of maters to come

Do women try to be as obstinate as they are?

Or is it part of the continuum

 

A man is dammed if he does

And dammed if he doesn’t

What is it that he should do?

Is there a time for the asking and taking?

The song shafted high into my mind

Giving my reason for the understanding

I found myself looking for

Floundering for truth in life

 

Hearing in my heart

Never the two coming together as one

 

Now years have passed

The reason for the contract has lost its strength

They stay together out of regard

The thought now changed

 

Life no longer means the same to either

Hope for happiness is gone

Falling out of love has taken a lifetime

They both see each other as friends

Life has been very good to him
