Phenomenon

Phenomenon

A Poem by Greg the Bard

Phenomenon

He personified the phenomenon he was

Moving from tear to tear

His highest level stratospheric in nature

A mind that has found no end

Baffled by the human utterance

Of the junta of civil rule

Bewildered that life is measured

As coins in the government coffers

Standing on ground that has never been ruled

Seeing death without reason

Killing when told too

Justice pre-effervescent as death distains

A government that has a choice

A choice that can make life real

Why?

The answer not yet explained

A Phenomenon!

this is interesting. i owned a coffee shop not too long ago, and one day this retired major comes in, buys coffee, and starts talking to me. it was a slow day so i sat down with him. he talked and talked, about all sorts of things. then somehow he gets on the subject of " a merchant of venice", and the quality of mercy. and suddenly this major, this long time war vet, just falls apart, starts crying and he says "in the military, they taught us to be merciless". there is something in this poem that reminded me of that, i don't know why. you military guys have an understanding of things i will never have... and can never imagine. very well said, very well penned my friend.
