The Price of Being Right

Pro Log: Enticed to write the following I have felt more wrong than right having been pushed to hard by the ones I love most in life. In the late 50's and early 60's an organization came into power and all of it's own. At first no one took a part in this group fearing reprisals from the majority of citizens that believed differently. I am one of a group from the majority that feels what came before. is now history and should be use as a tool to not fall into the same trap of destructive feelings that the majority is likely to do. Confronted now with the same problems as the majority the minority is lead by this group called the NAACP and is very close to creating the same illusion that was made into law sometime ago. The modern day “KKK” is not riding around with mom's best white sheets on. Not anymore!

In living we are wrong to hate

In hate we wait

Waiting hate festers

In living we die

The colors are mingled

The eyes recessive with doubt

A view of ownership

The welled oiled machine from without

As long as a human being breaths

Choses must be made

Reasons must be given

Blame must be placed

Forsaken men can rule

Only to become the for saker

Righteous in self

No mater the hurt

From day one of the United States great experiment in government an under lying wrong to humankind has stained the venture. Those in power saw no harm in the cancer that eats away at the very reason for a new country. Until the cancer was pointed out, did the cause of a new world, where all men and women were equal, was a cure looked for. Now in time some 350 years later the cure is still lacking. The cancer grows. It is swift in ignorance.

The name is hate

Black against White, White against Black

White against White, Black against Black

A cancer called Hate

Now many different names

Red against Black, White against Yellow

But still the same

The cancer of hate still lives within this country

When will we the parents stop teaching the hate

When junior dies or sister is raped

How can we relate or justify

When it is within us to kill or die

I disagree with the theme of this poem, because I see more love in this world, today, than in the times of the "love generation." I feel there is still a lot of hate, however, and agree with you there. I think hate is taught from birth by parents and agree with you there. I think that all of this hate, of the past, has bred fear and we have locked ourselves in boxes, afraid to reach out and touch another human being. I would love to read your thoughts on "the fear." If you write such a piece, please let me know. Very though provoking write! I think the world, as a whole, is getting closer with the "worldwide web." Maybe, we are starting to understand one another better and know that the propaganda of our youth was all a lie!

The 'Mission Statement' of NAACP reads; 'The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.

The 'Mission statement' of the Ku Klux Klan reads; 'Bringing a Message of Hope and Deliverance to White Christian America! A Message of Love NOT Hate!'

Your statement, thoughts and sentiments, brings readers back to the real world!

Greg..even though I agree with all that you said..Many other ask this questions..If they hate it so bad here why don't they go back to Africa where they can starve like the rest of the Africans are doing..None will so why fight here and not just enjoy freedom and love each other..I personally do not get it..I wasn't taught to hate,,but the KKK lives still in the south..here I hear it every day because of Obama..God bless..Valentine

Greg, this is one of the most powerful writes I have read on this sight. First off, your title grabbed me right away. There is INDEED a PRICE for being right. You have spoken of a subject that needs to be talked about and I admire you for taking a stand and disclosing such a thing! Prejudice and hate kills. Your ending sealed up the whole thing when you said:

When will we the parents stop teaching the hate

When junior dies or sister is raped

How can we relate or justify

When it is within us to kill or die

This should have a number one seat in the ratings!!! This should be shouted from the mountain tops. Bitterness and Hate are a slow eating poison and cancer of the flesh!

As you said here: "The cancer of hate still lives within this country."

A poignant write, Greg! Very well done!
