Sightless Stranger

Sightless Stranger

A Poem by Caddy
"

I stopped writing for about 5 years. This is the result, I wrote, after my long break. A bit on the darker side but still beautiful in a way.

"

Slowly, Stranger, lay me to rest
Among the coils of root and mud
The silent lark nestled upon my breast
Cradled together in earth and blood

I could not count the grains as they fell
One by one upon my bed
The blanket sealing my immortal spell
As darkness and death wed

Can you see my eyes stutter?
As I grasp Death, hand in hand
My soul lost to the vows I utter
His scarlet eyes, weeping where I stand

Courting you, my sightless Stranger
With whispered breaths as we kissed
Enraptured by passion and danger
As we coiled into swirling mist

I really enjoyed this. Yes, the imagery is dark, but there is a certain current of lightness - pleasure, almost - that runs underneath the darkness. Very nice, indeed. :)
