Fire

Fire

A Poem by Chirag Kumar

FIRE

I want a fire.
Tiny sparks take birth
in the soul's dingy caves.
Flimsy layers of smoke
gush through the rotten veins.
A giant fire is my wish
to burn my every blemish.
But the wait must prevail
if I ought to self destruct.

The gloom ridden air
confronts my torrid dreams.
I get paid with bribes
of negativity and ordinariness.
Whirlpools of towering passions
and cynicisms collide.
May the naysayers know
who's gonna win tonight.

I WILL NOT let
my blatant sparks to die.
I would rather let them grow
in the cradles of time,
so that I burn today
in the jaws of defeat
only to resurrect and land
a tight slap on deceit.
