I

I

A Poem by Chirag Kumar

I...

I,
worship an idol,
in the temple of my heart,
where the idol is of myself,
and devotees plead for help.
Even they are my manifestations.

I,
am at ease.
But when I witness better idols,
I hide beneath the shadows,
in dismay to avoid the gallows,
sent by Him to terminate my vices.

I,
always in doubt.
Inhibitions deceive me,
weaving a web of lies,
around my eyes.
Pride, ego, jealousy.. are still dear to me.

And I,
though one could see,
the shrewd plans of my mind,
fear pushes me from behind,
to be trapped within contours of false comfort.

I,
run out of options,
for I suddenly realize my worth.
I forgo the evils from my life,
after scores of internal strife.
I am at peace now.

I,
a transformed person.
Dark forces would do no harm,
for every breath of mine is surrendered to Him.
Serving all with humility - the ultimate dream.
Guide me on this path, O Buddha.

I am not a Buddhist, but many of my loves family are. Even before I met her I read and learn some of Buddhism.
