ShivaA Poem by Chirag Kumarॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सु-ंधिम पुष्टिवर्धनम् उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान् मृत्योमुर्क्षीय मामृतात्। Shiva He always fascinates me. He is an Adarsh (role model) for all Yogis, bereft of worldly desires, despite his existence in the web of the Sansara(universe). I wish to describe his endless form. Hair tied in the form of jata (matted hair), and body smeared in bhasma (ashes), he sits atop the mountain of Kailasa. engrossed in the depths of dhyana (meditation). Shiva doesn't care for personal appearances. His pleasing aura supersedes his terrifying looks. Ganga flows from his jata, denoting his serenity being compared to the calmness of the Holiest river. The crescent moon rests on the top, proclaiming his anant (eternal) existence and control over time. Vibhuti (three marks of ashes) crosses his Third eye, which destroys evil karma, to leave an calming effect. He sits on a tiger skin, signifying his victory over Kama (Lust). Mahadev wears a deer skin, indicating his perfect control of Indriyas(senses). A serpent surrounds his Neela Kanth(blue throat), a hallmark of his triumph over death. His Neela Kanth is suggestive of his power to consume all the Evils of Sansara without being harmed. The Damru(drum) beats form the music of the Universe. He wanders with a Trishul, bearing his supremacy over Creation, Care and Destruction. Despite all his might, He is powerless without his Consort, Shakti. She completes him. Worshipped by millions, He is the best Guru for every one of us. He lives beyond perfection. To the Lord of the Lords, the mightiest of all, the compassionate for his devotees, and terror for Evil, I pay my obeisance to You. Om Namaha Shivaya. C Kumar © 2015 Chirag KumarReviews
