Carnal shapes

Carnal shapes

A Story by Chirag Kumar

It's already past 12.

The rays of sunlight glare across my face in unison through the window.

But I cease to try waking up, for I stand refractory to the shrill cries of conscience echoing today's priorities to be fulfilled.

My mind adores me for the late night studies till 4. It recounts the tales of various problems and shapes I had solved amidst the comfort of perfect ambience of the night.
But the earphones had witnessed the carnal crimes committed on myself, and that the various shapes which had emerged in front of my eyes were anything but Geometry, and that those visuals did manage to enhance something within me but not my intellect.
So I start dwelling into the threads of thoughts with a hope to untie their knots one by one. I reflect on my lousiness and bouts of lethargy which I exhibited all these days. I introspect into the precious treasures of time which I had spent incessantly in exchange for nothing but guilt. And suddenly the idea of myself begins to take form in the midst of these revelations. Much to my horror, I see myself naked, completely exposed to a wild beast Karma, who is persistently inflicting wounds on my body as I suffer in repentance for my past. I find myself struggling for a gasp of breath and escape from the clutches of the animal to discover any paths to resurrect from the point of no return. An intense realization that life is temporary but, my duties that I shall execute shall stand forever seemed to impregnate the deepest of my consciousness. I begin to understand that the mind will encourage me to stay lazy and be like the rest but I need to rise above all vices and taste the nectar of triumph and glory.
And so with a renewed hope and a new version of oneself I rise above the shackles of ease, ready to push myself into the battles of today. After all my morning chores, I prepare every part of me to commence the labor, only to find myself entangled in studying those carnal shapes yet again...
