Be Easy, Rockstar

Be Easy, Rockstar

A Poem by V.B.
"

I have tried for a long time to write this. It is my first legitimately new poem to share.

"
i will wrap myself in blankets and metaphors
and tell everyone it's armor.
i will sit here, against all better judgment,
and figure out exactly how long it takes
for pain to become nostalgia.

all i know
is that there was a moment
when the buzz of a modem
turned into music,
and no one i know
can guess when it happened.

and for whatever it's worth,
i have never once
fallen out of love in my life.
but do not doubt that i find it
every
single
day.

it's the blood on the radio
that bears the burden.
all i do is smile.

Wow. Just wow and I NEVER wow. This could have been written by my legitimately rock star of a son, a 23-year-old lead guitarist in a metal band who talks in metaphors and hears music in a drain emptying. "Blood on the radio" is a line I understand as a writer and I am sure he does as a musician. Our blood is our ink. Just moved me to tears, as no one understands him like I do, or so I thought. 100/100

this made my day! I want to wrap myself up in the words and walk out in the rain, the smile would deflect the wetness, I'm pretty sure . . . I think you're too hard on your poetics

this is exactly what I expect from a poet of your height

I loved the title, it's very refreshing. Along with the whole poem - such a strong, meticulate read, but so easy to fall in love with. P.S.: By the way, "i have never once
fallen out of love in my life." was genius!

Words to tattoo across my bleeding heart.
More I will not say.

Strong writing. I don't often quote in reviews, but if I did, I quote that pain/nostalgia line, and tell you that it hit me like a beautiful brick to the face. :)
This thing kicks a*s. Well done.
Cheers!

you've a way with words that shoot straight into the soul's bull's eye~ deep thinkers ~ perceptive observers not just of themselves but their sorroundings build the most intrinsic worlds of being with calligraphic strokes of well defined intent~

Your title drew me in. Your first stanza brilliant. Everything after added to it. This is my new favorite poem of yours. I don't even know what else to say. I like the subtle optimism.

Another great piece of poetry. I love the final lines of the first stanza ("and figure out exactly how long it takes / for pain to become nostalgia.") It applies to any type of situation when a person is tormented by a loss of something in his or her life. The person continually relives the pain over and over until it cannot be stood for any longer. Only then do we remember the past without overwhelming feelings of grief and remorse.

Music can be an inspiration, and we do need to smile at life. Good poem.
