Prologue

A Chapter by EchoOfTheLonelyWolf

It was just a normal day of school. Was. Well, anyway, let's not get ahead of ourselves.
"Hey, Claire." I said as I sat down at the lunch table. "Hey." She said in a muffled voice as she greeted me with a mouth full of chicken patty. "And you always complain about her manners. “Said Rayne as she sat down next to me. "Thank you!" I said to Rayne. "Ah, shut up." Said Claire.
I usually don't eat much of my lunch, and I think that was the only normal part of today. Claire managed to hone in on my last potato puff. "Summer, can I pleeeeaaassseee have your last potato puff?" Asked Claire. I sighed. "Fine." I said unwillingly. I don't have the ability to say no to people like her.
Lunch was over in one minute, so I got up and threw my leftovers away. I walked down the hallway to my history class. "Hi Mr. R." I said as I entered his history classroom. "Good afternoon, Summer. Did you do your homework?" He asked. I panicked. "There was homework?!" I shouted. He laughed. "Simmer down, I'm just kidding." He chuckled. If looks could kill, he'd be on the ground. One thing I know is I can't stand being messed with.
His class was long and boring as usual. We were about to leave the classroom when the loud speaker. It was Mr. P. Our principle. “Every single student and faculty member report to the auditorium at this moment." He said in a strained voice. Mr. R clapped twice to get our attention. "Alright, let's do as Mr. P says. Follow me."
Mr. R led us down to the auditorium. We sat in the last few rows of the middle section. I could feel something wrong. We saw two silhouettes appear from behind the curtain. They were in leather jackets, jeans, and had a mask on that was all white except for some red markings. Then, in the middle of the stage, another figure appeared. He had his hands around Mr. P's neck. This man wasn't wearing a mask. He had a normal face like anyone else. He had red eyes, and spiky silver hair. He looked like a seventeen a year old boy. He was wearing the same outfit as the other two. The only thing that made him look different from another seventeen year old boy that he had the ears the tail of a black panther.
I looked up to see a massive hole in the sealing, like they came through it. I looked back down. The man had a grin on his face while Mr. P looked horrified. "My name is Hyo. Hyo Kogeki. Me and my friends here came across this planet. I decided to stop here looking for a good fight." Hyo said. A kid in my class laughed. "Like we would believe you come from another planet." Said James. Sharp claws emerged from Hyo's fingertips. “Do as I say or this man will die.” Hyo said. We all stayed silent. This guy. He isn’t something that could be killed by a gun. This is out of our league. “Now, let’s get to business. I came for a fight. Now, someone fight me or this man will die along with everyone else here. Now choose or I will. He’s serious. I have to do something. My friends were staring at me as if they knew what I was going to do. “Don’t do it, Summer.” Said Rayne. I bit my lip. Everyone began to look at me after hearing Rayne say that. Hyo noticed that. “Girl, do you wish to fight me? Interesting, I’ve never fought a girl before. This should be interesting. So, how about it?” he asked. I stood up. I was mad now. He was toying with me. “Fine. I’ll fight. Im gonna put your sorry-a*s six feet under.” I said. He laughed. “You have one week, then I will meet you back here and fight. Oh, one more thing, you’re a Konketsuji just like me.” Said Hyo. Not to my surprise, he levitated off the ground along with the other two men and back through the hole leaving Mr. P on the stage looking completely awestruck. Other than him, I was standing in the center of a sea of eyes. Absolutely everyone was staring. Nobody clapped. Nobody told me I was brave. They just stared. “Summer….?” A few of them whispered. What have I gotten myself into? “Uh… summer, would you like to say a few words on the stage?” asked Mr. P. “If that’s what you think I should do, than yes.” I said as I walked through the crowd of students.
I stepped onto the stage. “First, does anyone have questions? I know even I have some for myself.” I said. At least 20 people raised their hands. It was barley an eighth of the people that were in this room, but then again, everyone is probably still terrified. “Anthony, ask away.” I said while pointing to him. “Why…? Why did you choose to fight him?” he asked slowly. He was the tough guy of the school, so him looking scared is concerning. “Because,” I replied. “Who else was going to do it?” I continued. “WHY DID YOU DO IT THOUGH?! WE COULD HAVE JUST CALLED THE POLICE!!” he yelled. “Summer would you like me to remove hi…” I cut of Mr. P. “No, he needs to hear this. Anthony, didn’t you study anything about him. His speed, his strength, the bloodlust in his eyes, the feeling of horror coming from him? He’s not something that can simply be taken down by the police, or even the military.” I said. The realization began to reach me. I knew all color had drained from my face. I could see the world be begin to move in rapid motions all around me. I was going to faint. No. I couldn't. If fear makes me weak, than how am I suppose to fight this guy. I regained control of myself. Remembering where I left off, I looked at Anthony. "Understand now?" I asked. His silence along with that of everyone else's answered my question. "I did this for you guys, the world. For my pride. I have something to prove." I continued. "Like what? That you cocky and skrewed up?" Snickered James. How can he laugh at a time like this. I scowled, then my eyes turned into slits. "No. For me it's a win win. If I live, people won't hate me. If I die, I won't have to deal with the bullcrap that most of you people make me deal with." I said simply. He looked awestruck that I had the nerve to say that on a stage. "What, so now is it story time or something?" Asked George. This gave me an idea. "Which would you prefer, a boring, long life story, or a cool, fast song?" I asked. "Uh... I don't know...?.." He responded. "Alright, so let's do a show of hands. Anybody up for an autobiography?" I asked. About three people raised their hands. I'm surprised there's no cricket surround sound. "So the song then?" I asked. Just about everyone who didn't raise their hand before if now, and those who haven't at all a probably paralyzed in fear. "Alright then. Mr. P, may I get something real quick." I asked him. "Sure, be quick." He responded.
I ran and got my phone out of my locker in less than a minute. When I got back to the auditorium I hooked it up to the sterio and hopped back on stage. The track began playing, and I began to sing. "Once upon at time, a place unknown, lived a boy, forgot and left all alone. No one knew what he could do, or of this fairytail. Probly since before the day I was born, call it fate, but I was drown with scorn. No one tried to be on my side, so I joined the other cheek. I can't help my feeling sad. Though I guess it ain't to bad. Calling from the setting sun, took my hand and flew away. Tell me why! Tell me why! No one ever tells me why. Why they hate me and despise me when I haven't done a thing! In the rain, all I feel is this never ending chill, but a trillion trillion trillion years have left me freezing cold....!" On and on I sang, not knowing that when I got home I'd have another surprise waiting.
