Lonely Little FigureA Story by Aradia LecraweSmall story I wrote while sitting in a hotel room.
See the pretend stars in the hopeless city? Such ignorance man has to
the godly sky. Thinking power emerges from ignoring the angels that are weeping with neglect. But on the corner of a tall, man-made structure sits a lonely little figure. Quietly she watches the Normals go by and dare not let their dull eyes look into the abyss. What would they see anyway? The electric stars drown the twinkling eyes of their ancestors. The lonely little figure grins at the stupidity of mortals, who think the only way to solve a problem is to look the other way. Man's life is in the form of blood. The blood is the life. Yet, they do not know how precious it is to the lonely little figure. She knows the secrets of the mortals and their other lives. The Senator and his affair; the Writer and her infatuation with death; the Drug Dealer and his profit; and the Lawyer contemplating suicide. Only the worthless lives she must take. What would man's world do with a life planning the murder of the next businessman who decides to walk down the dark alley or the rape of a broken, homeless teenage girl. She secretly walks the streets, blending in with the mortals and pretending that she is not what she seems. Acting innocent as her prey stalks her. So apathetic to the cares of others she drinks their souls and frees the world of growing evil with no recognition for her. So the lonely little figure keeps watching the people from the tall, man-made structure. Watching to see if they dare glance at the concealed stars. © 2013 Aradia Lecrawe |
