The Age Old QuestionA Poem by aprilraynePushing past daisies Filling the ground with weeds I pluck a stem Hot and dirty Feathered petals Yellowed gold And whispered melodies Long forgotten Bent on broken promises I yearn for you Beneath pages and pages of atmosphere I nicker knacker through The Dog Star keeps calling me As the flood of passion ensues
Lightly tiptoeing up I scan the virtuous And the contemptuous Brittle echoes in the dust I yearn for you Who would know what right to do? A decision I do not wish to bear And still I climb I burden all the weight To lapse one step It would be all I take I yearn for you And when at last we meet On the edge of circumstantial consequence I will question, In an age old sing song equation, Do you yearn for me too? © 2015 aprilrayneReviews
