the harlot

the harlot

A Poem by aprilrayne

this ring is bearing all the weight

of unadulterated love

yet still i yearn temptation

from the things unworthy of

my wicked mind

contrived in spite

a fantasy i crave

a selfish lack of self control

domestic life won't save

the weight of sweet surrender

clouds its criminal intent

when lustful need,

the red light beckons...

            fidelity's descent
