My Christmas Prayer

Christmas is coming once again

But why? Why the world is still crying?

Of injustice and sickness, people are still dying

Why not abhor violence? Just spread love and forgiveness

 

Why can’t everyone be friends?

Why do we keep on fighting over nonsense?

Why not unite for peace?

For this world to be a better place

 

Long before the day of my birth,

This has been a barren earth

Still, we remain with our breaths

History will keep on repeating itself until we learn to comprehend

 

It’s Christmas once again

I hope this prayer will be heard

O, Lord! Heal the scars that keep on bleeding

Heal the world amidst of all the pains.

Our professor in Philippine Literature made us write a poem called "My Christmas Prayer" / "Ang Dasal Ko Ngayong Pasko" on our examination... Merry Christmas. :)

A very beautiful poem and a good theme. This poem tells how good you are from within. A person who prays not for his/her own well-being, but for the good of the whole world is a nice person. Why not bid adieu to envy, glutton, hatred, violence and other such things which have contaminated the world and mankind? A very nice piece. Keep writing.

Very good prayer and poem I wrote Get Along which asks simular question however the answer is power and greed thost two guy's have no phantom about peace and harmony or love and compassion or kindness and integrety,no those two guys are the bullies in our world they don't know the most important pair at all though the other pairs know Lord and Savior. Peace would be wonderful it is often something I pray for over and over again. If we all forgot politics and just accepted others beliefs we could work together as one to better the world but there are those that fear things and people that are different and those that are power seekers. Alas I dont know if peace can ever be fully achieved but I do wish for those sentiments poured out in this poem.

I really thought it was lovely. Especially a poem as an assigned writing; the tone of the poem, sadness over the cruely of the world, why celebrate? Right from the beginning your message was clear and you carried it own: Why can't everyone be friends? ...fighting over nonsense; well suppose there are many nonsensical people.
