The world we live in tends to be caught in the moment, the social media of it all and fails to remember how blessed we are.

SLAM POEM ///

How Ungrateful I Have Been /

How ungrateful I have been.

At only 19, and so much in front of me how ungrateful I have been.

Last month, I was broken because I couldn’t figure out my hearts desire, meanwhile there was a husband who wasn’t sure if his wife was still the one he admired. He lost track of it all during the miscarriage, he turned to alcohol and now was drunk, beaten, and discouraged.

Last week, I laid in my bed until 11 a clock because I had nothing else to do that day. Meanwhile there was a woman awake at 5 in the morning to work for her money so she can support her child because the father is long gone.

We woke up today. We woke up, and we lived. Meanwhile just on the other side of town there was an innocent baby girl, who was left at home with her mom's boyfriend, She was then molested and killed before even her first birthday.

I came home today. And I sat and talked with my family. Meanwhile there was a woman trapped in a house for 14 years, raped and beaten, and is just now living her life with her child.

There is an army that fights every single day so that we my have rights in our lives. There are men sacrificing themselves for us, people they no nothing off.

There was a man who gave his only son, so that we could have the chance to live forever.

There is a dad who wakes up every morning an though he would much rather stay home, he goes to work to support his family, his children and grandchildren.

There was a bombing in Boston, a shooting in elementary school. A shooting in a movie theater. A threat to the Christians of this world. A woman raped and the man walking away free. A newborn baby dying in a heated car. A new born baby being aborted after it just came into this world. A child suffering from a mental illness because his mother could not take care of herself enough.

Trigger, trigger shoot.

Oh how ungrateful I have been.
