Joy Ride by April Broeckx

Joy Ride by April Broeckx

A Poem by aprilbroeckx

Screaming out, yet lost for words
An endless fight, no more lovebirds.
Tearing down those thin, thin walls
Another of those drunken brawls.
Too scared to run, no place to hide
Trapped, alone, should have died.
Can't get away, can't get out
All that is left is one route.
One path to freedom, must escape
Will never again, put up with this drape.
Time to uncover, and bring it aside
It's all over, this little joyride.
Not much to say, no words come out
Inside the mind, it does shout.
Doing this now, no going back
Limbs all still, head falls slack.
Finally free, allowed to lay down
Time to rest, no time to frown.
Beauty in life, nonesuch
Beauty in death, much.
