Island of Pain

a poem about betrayal

surrounded by an ocean of tears

I sit on an island of my pain

the sky bows down

as a breeze lingers

on damp skin

knowing you

is my only regret

haunted by the pain

you left for me

like an neverending vice

it squeezes my heart

until I can't breathe

I sit with it

letting it overtake me

as there is nothing left I can do

eventually I slip back into the water

trying not to drown

in silent hope of finding myself again
