The Earthly Angel

The Earthly Angel

A Poem by The Pursuit of Venus

You are my earthly angel,
And your wings have been drawn with charcoal
You are my strong sunshine,
But nowadays sunscreen is worn by all
You are my china doll;
Dropped and repaired with cheap glue
You are my captured star,
But I don't quite know what to do with you
For I fear of pulling you too close
In an overwhelming moment of passion,
To pull my hands back and see
The charcoal,
The glue,
The sunshine,
The starshine,
All in the palms of my hands
And not on you
Because my inexperienced fingers cannot recreate you,
And no mortal paper, canvas, or wall will do.
