11: Faint

11: Faint

A Chapter by Apathy To Empathy

Faint

She seems to walk

with an unbalanced step.

Her small bare feet

trudging across the dirt ground,

scarping and burning with blisters.

The pot of water on her head

is growing too heavy.

Her arms are trembling

and breaking under pressure.

Her knees throb and ache

for the walking to stop,

and take a break,

even though she's tired from hunger.

The pain that rests on her head

slips to the ground,

shattering into a million pieces,

the water spilling everywhere

as her body crumples

to the barren wasteland.

The suffering from the heat,

and the starvation from hunger

overwhelms the girl.

The world grows black

surprisingly too quickly

for her to regain strength

and get to her feet.
