A Chapter by Apathy To Empathy

 Winter

Deep, dark, and lovely might I say

that on such a cold day

the world around me glistens with snow

so soft, so low.

High, bare, and prickly might I ask

to why you are hiding behind a mask?

Yes, the one so clean,

white and heavenly with mean.

Shallow, light, and icy you lie down on to me

for everyone, yes the world, to see

your wet self kiss my cheek

as if to lay on a mountain's peak.

Oh snowflake,

who are you to make

a heavenly day of?

Even someone's love?

Or are you to just be plain,

and be a temporary white stain,

to sheet Mother Nature's birth,

the well given earth?

Deep, dark, and lovely might I say

that on such a cold day

the world around me glistens with snow

so soft, so low.
