Finding Home

Finding Home

A Poem by Apatheia

I'm running away,
I'll be gone for awhile
With one pack of cigs
I'll leave with a smile

I'll never look back
I have what it takes
To leave this s**t town
And all the mistakes

I'll break up with you
And it will hurt
But compared to this town
I'll deal with invert

My life is a token
But it's lost on the road
So I'm out to find it
Until I grow old

Because I'm aching for home
But home isn't here
I'm searching for somewhere
But where isn't clear

I'll go to Cali
Maybe Washington, too
It might take a year
It might take a few

But it's worth the wait
If I can find home
So my heart will stop aching
And my soul will not roam

Maybe in Italy
Or maybe Peru
It'll be an adventure
But it won't fall through

I just want to go home
Where I'll feel content
Where I'll be welcome
And be stuck like cement

I have tried to run away often. Always ending up where I started. I like the desire and the story in the poem. I wish often tom be able to wander the world. Old age is slowing dreams and desires down. Thank you for the excellent poem.

An interesting poem with deep yearning to find happiness in the guise of moving on in search. It flows well and most of the rhyming works well. Nice read.
