Please, don't go.

Please, don't go.

A Poem by Apatheia

Please don't go.
You're the only figure of a mother I have.
I know you've hit a low,
But be patient with my dad.
I've let you in.
You're the first since I was a little kid.
I've been hurt again.
Was it something I said or did?
What can I do?
There must be something I can say.
If only I knew.
But there you go out the door anyway.
I feel so helpless.
Please, please just.. don't go.
If only words could express-
How my love for you will always grow
Your kids are my siblings
And I need them like I do you.
Who am I kidding?
I love everything they do.
Their annoying yells,
Their suck up compliments.
The way they smell,
to their silly arguments.
What will I do when you're gone?
An empty quiet room -
with just the TV on?
I can already feel the gloom.
Please, don't go. Please, just try.
I'm not strong enough to hear the last goodbye.

You have a lot of things going on in your life. But you're strong, and I know in my heart that you'll make it through anything that comes your way. These types of things are never easy. Thank you for sharing this personal look into your life. It speaks of courage and is only one of the reasons why I know you'll make it. Again, I am an eternal fan.

Thank you so much
You've invested a lot of you in a parent's relationships. And I understand that. I know because I've invested that of myself in the past too. Hannah, we don't control what a parent does or how or whom they relate with. I wish I could tell you everything will be fine but you and your dad need to seriously talk out the stability, security, and interrelationship issues. And you AND he need to be honest and straightforward with each other. I wish you well.

Take care.

This is a well written poem. It flows. It is easy to understand. It is easy for the reader to put themselves into, in imagining that they may be loosing a parental figure.

But at the end, I just keep wondering if kids really feel that way about adults. If people really feel that way in real life. Though you were plenty descriptive and the poem is well written and I could put myself into it as in imagining people leaving me... I am not sure why, there is just something that is holding me back from full heartedly believing in the reality of this poem.

I don't say these things to be unkind. I say them because I think it is all of our duties to tell eachother on here whatever our impressions are. How else will any of us know what impression we are making on those that read our work? I hope that people who review my work will do so honestly too.
