Love Vodka and cigarettes as much as I loved this poem and the question it asks. You cannot force yourself to be happy unless you let go of the dark. You have to be able to see the light and you can make that light shine. You've smiled for the camera, now smile for yourself.
Ps - Peanut Butter and Banana wraps while I'm having my morning coffee work for me. I call it my happy breakfast. What"s yours?
I think this is a very sweet poem.
For those lucky people in the world who can see everything in a positive way, can help those who may have to deal with depression.
Sadly, that isn't always the case and people are left to fend for themselves.
I like this poem, but I feel as though maybe you could have used other words besides "pretty" to get your point across even stronger.
I think it's good, maybe something to work on though.
I understand what you're saying though. There's optimists and pessimist.
And maybe pessimists need optimists for friends to balance everything out.
For life of me, I can't figure why anyone would want to see the world so dark and eerie.
Ah, one of the secret wishes of the cynical come to light.
The people who see the world the way you described this other person always seem to have the greatest smiles, and to see the world they see would be amazing.
Great poem. It really conveyed the emotion you were going for. It wasn't too strong or too subtle, it was just right. Favorite stanza? Glad you asked:
You see the pretty things in life
The little kids, flowers, and smile
All I see are petty things
Like robbers, rapists, and denial.

I'm glad that you liked it. Thank you and thank you for reading.
The only correction I might suggest, would be to give some attention to "All I see are petty things." Petty means trivial, which I'm assuming you meant that line to contrast to the first line in that stanza. Unless you meant it to contrast as an oxymoron to the next line like seeing little things, but are really big things.
I liked the simplicity of this that tells the classic, nostalgic feeling of someone's fascination to the different responses to the way the world is. U have two different views from two different consciences: a pure conscience and a corrupt one. When the conscience is pure, then the person tends to think everything is pure. When the conscience is corrupt, then everything is corrupt. Both are misguided. If you knew me, I was the one who found joy in simple things, but had to find out the hard way, not everyone means you good. Now I know, that the joy comes in simple things when you realize the corrupt. For example, the way you see the world evil and grotesque makes me joyful I'm alive in such a world, almost like a miracle.
I love this line the most, "I want to see the beauty/I wish to see the joy/I'll just walk in your footsteps/And maybe then I will enjoy." It makes me think about my savior whom I find joy and happiness within, walking within the footsteps of His Spirit. Then, I see the world as a fading thing. God's creation is beautiful, but it will be more beautiful when peace is restored fully.
I agree. I guess everybody sees the world differently. The woirld is like the glas half ful/empty thing. Some people belive that we will be taken over by evil people, and that the little good left in the world will be crushed like a grape. Then there are those who see the good and belive in it, who belive with their entire heart that it will grow and blossom and evetually rid the world of the bad.
I think if we could see the world through others eyes we would understand them better... we all see things differently cause our vision is compromised by how we grew up. Very nice writing.
Hard to follow someone. Better to find beauty you enjoy and find things to make you content. a interesting poem. I believe we can learn what beauty is from someone. But we must open our heart and mind to see and feel it. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.
