The PrayerA Story by ActualityThe quotes (") act as an em dash. To read the parts of the sentence that are the most significant, skip the text within the quotes. I find myself constantly making an effort to prove the worth of my existence. I, excluded from the pleasantries of your world, reside in an abstract reality that is null of well-being. I suffer under the aggression of your perceptions. My world is in an absence of true happiness. What reasons have your actions, thoughts, cultures, and legacies given me to be happy? I often reside in the darkness of an emptiness that you"a human being"my only brother in the never-ending openness of this universe, have created in me. Some days I am joyful, those being the days in which I am able to look at you in the eyes as brethren, and enjoy the fruits of your presence. These are the days that I am able to experience fully the love of your nature. These are the days that you welcome me into the complex spheres of your culture. In these days, I feel as if I am one of your very own. I wish these pleasantries could be in my experience day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute, second by second, as they are in yours. By God! Am I exiled by your own people, who I have loved since the beginning of time? Is it that I have wronged you by the attendance of my person? Do you find yourself weary of my existence, due to the tendencies of those who resemble me? Is it because I am often in a state of such a tremendous anger, due to the harsh reality of these statements I have specified? Do you feel that I loathe you for the horrible creations of your people? Is this the reason why we are apart from one another? Even in the state of our co-existence, we are polar opposites. We’re both burned by the flames of our passive aggressions towards each other"despite the fact that we complete one another"as if we represent the prime and the factor, the few and the many, the wise and the ignorant, the empathetic and the dismissive, the sun and the moon, and the warmth and cold of the Earth. We should not co-exist as these descriptions! If these predictions are in-fact true, then I beg of you to extinguish those horrid flames! Let me be able to experience this rarity, of being the prime, in true happiness. Let me be the few that take pride in sharing these feelings of pain to the world, in the hopes that all will be healed by the revelations of my tarnished soul, that you may sympathize with my experiences. Give me the pleasure of being wise, so that I may not assume my horrid statements, and stereotypes, and judgments, and prejudices to be the truth, in whole, of any one of your brethren. Give me the ability to feel empathy towards your own statements, stereotypes, judgments, prejudices, and previous experiences, so that I may understand the intricacies and complexities of your harmless, oh such harmless perceptions of my nature; that I may regard you as my very own. Give me a reason to shine as bright as the sun, bringing warmth to every aspect of your lives as I replace the devilish flames of hate with the heartwarming flames of acceptance. Finally, I beg of you to join me in my search of the ability within ourselves to be different, but in-fact, agreeable. I pray we have the strength to co-exist as equals. I pray we co-exist as equals to fill this emptiness.
