Friendships Don't Last Forever

I told you I’d always be your friend,

That our friendship would never end,

I told you that I’d be by your side,

And I promise, I really tried.

I’m human, so I make mistakes,

But what you did was no mistake,

I told you to stop, I said I was sorry

And you forgave me, or so you told me.

But it was never the same again,

And then it drove me insane.

I asked why you were acting so weird

And then suddenly you disappeared.

You came back unexpected

And I was there, unprotected.

You took the chance to get your own back,

And I stood there, while my heart cracked.

How was that? I don't usually write poems.

btw I know my title might make some people want to scream at me "YES THEY DO! FRIENDSHIPS DO LAST FOREVER!", and I know you can you can really good friends that are always there for you because I have some, but for me your 'best friends' change while your true friends are always there for you. For me, as you get closer to someone you suddenly realise what they're actually like. You should allow your true friends to make mistakes and always forgive them if they ask you to. Don't stick to one person.

the last stanza really stood out :)

It stays a mystery as to what caused the friendship to end and only focused on the impact and the feelings which I really like :)

Well...definately a thought prevoker. I have exactly 2 friends. Sadly I met them as I became older. One, I would consider my bff, but the other, there are no words in this life or the next to describe how much that one human being means to me. So...friends come and go, forgiveness???? Not likely...from my experience. But I have had some aweful ones. From your prospective, I wish I could do a few things over and give more second chances. I like this piece. Your sadness and confusion on what happened caught me in every line. Very well wrote. You did a very nice job with the wording, emotion, and all round great work. Not that I'm an awesome writer either. I just like you, enjoy. Keep plugging away. :)

P.S. Sorry, bout the bitterness I have, but trust for me needs to be earned not given freely. Like I said I have 1 bff and 1 indiscribable soul.
