Storm-"The Villain"

Storm-"The Villain"

A Poem by Anuja Sharma
"

If its not forever, its not Love...!!

"

This is a tale of a couple,

Whose life was full of giggle & chuckle.

Ohh! She was a sweet dove,

Drowned & lost in love.

The guy had his own swag & charm,

It was a “Rosewood” arm.

They were mates, always together,

Upholding & guarding each other.

She loved to kiss his leaves,

Her soft feathers used to make him please.

She loved the coziness of his arms to forget all pain,

& he admired her like the blossoms are kissed by soft rain.

It was their first cheerful Rainy season,

Unaware of the upcoming storm & nature’s treason.

Delightment & excitement was all around,

The feelings were on the ninth cloud & bodies on ground.

The time arrived when this love story was about to erode,

The storm stepped in like a villain,

Everyone was in fear, from an old tree to a new born toad.

Fearless Dove & Rosewood,

They knew that their immense love is understood,

& no matter what they’ll stand by for each other’s good.

Now this pleasant rainy season turned into dejection,

Lying dove with teary eyes but still had affection.

Affection for the creaked & fallen rosewood,

The pain of her broken heart was more than broken beak,

Amidst of all this, LOVE was on the peak.

What an intricate tale, wrapped in nature and kissed with intrigue. I love the expression, "nature's treason." It must seem so harsh at times, the season of long rains. As harsh as unfaithful lover. There are so many clever lines here, I can't cover them all!

Thank you so much Zoe for such a kind review. Grateful for your words and time.
Too often life's storms destroy love. A sad picture expressed with amazing images. Love meant to endure left in shattered ruins. Beautifully done.

The story you told with this was gorgeous and intricate and amazingly detailed while leaving some of it to the imagination. The love and passion that went into this is palpable and you can even feel it with the couple in the poem. I’m thoroughly impressed with how you wrote this. It’s such an interesting write that pulls you into its story and holds you there till the end, with strong words and even stronger feelings. Thank you so much for sharing.

Delightful & artful way of personifying bird & tree into a symbolic love affair. Your writing is unique & bright, with a lyrical lilt that makes it pleasant to read. Your storytelling is brief & skeletal, but still clear where the story is going. All-over enjoyable & meaningful! (((HUGS)))

nice work with the allegory! as i read i was going back and forth .. humans or bird and tree??? ;) i like how you present the storm as the villain ... the contrast with dove and Rosewood is sharp ... pretty creative write says i! syntax and rhymes seem a bit stretched towards your closing but the story is endearing and strong .. overall i really enjoyed the read and your two main characters .. well done!

a sad but very creative allegory...humans weather storms with love, and sometimes they aren't able to survive them...
survival of the fittest love, maybe?

nicely done and I like the use of Slant rhyme in the first two lines.

making her presence known
in a heartbeat she can turn

Love doesn't always go to plan. Like nature, a sun kissed breeze on a warm day, it can turn into a freak storm. Descriptive poetic lines. Enjoyed the read very much.

Thank you Chris for liking this piece. Much grateful for your review and motivation. 😊
It Is a sweet allegory...the web of life's interdependent love…anchored richly hued timber coupled with feathered flight…
Rhymes like rain drops on the steps of the story line.
“Natures treason”…harsh reality?… the rhyming cycle of history?…ouroboros of samsara?
