What if...

A poem that shows the mental process that could lead to suicide

There’s a human being having a panic attack right now.

And what he’s thinking will do more than raise a brow.

“What if I can’t thrive?”

“What if I lose my ability to survive?”

“What if no ones cares if I die?”

“What if no one helps me when I cry?”

He wakes up one day with his usual morning depression.

He thought he could get rid of it using only repression.

He walks into the kitchen and stares at the steak knife.

At this moment he’s thinking about taking his own life.

He grabs the knife and raises it to the sky.

And his very last words would be “goodbye”.

But he puts the knife down, and loses his frown.

From this day forward he never again attempted suicide.

All this is caused by a disease called depression, or mental genocide. 

So, never think about jumping off a cliff.

And never ask yourself a sad question that starts with what if.

After mood swings and friends that started cutting themselves, I feel as if people should really talk about this subject.
