As the World Hurries byA Poem by Sean C. HarrisonA poem making a dichotomy between the things of this life which really matter and those of less import, brevity of youthAs the world hurries by without one care, For those things precious, those things rare, A child is born with dreams of gold, Destined for greatness and glory untold,
As the world hurries by the bright sun sets, When a hoary head bates his last breath, While only few stop to recall, The beauty of the star that falls,
As the world hurries by at maddening pace, Oblivious to its errant ways, The voice of God cries, “Turn to me”, Let me your guide and compass be”,
As the world hurries by he calls us still, “Seek earnestly to know my will”, For though he waits so patiently, Time will not on our side always be,
For soon our fleeting days are spent, When our worn frame, feeble and bent, Ceasing its mad rush, soon to die, Watches afar as the world hurries by.
