Being A Man

Being A Man

A Poem by nathan

I am supposed to have vision for the both of us.
Be the man with the plan
decision maker as I steer our course
with an unerring sense of direction

I am supposed to be brave for the both of us.
I conceal the doubts and misgivings I bear
In a far away look, dragging them in the crook
of my hand as I battle your demons.

I am supposed to be strong for the both of us,
I'm called to sink my feet into Atlas' shoes
and carry our world on my shoulders
pick you up when you fall and be that pillow you cry into.

I am supposed to be invincible
healing quickly, bouncing back
no matter how grievous the wounds
because I'm of the line of kings...

I am supposed to be a Man.

I wouldn't trade shoes with you at all. Society does seem to think that men should carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. Be the strong one, the one who never cries. There is nothing wrong with leaning on someone sometimes. Nathan, this is wonderful.
