A FlagellationA Poem by nathanBad break up
I do ths because no more pride
resides in me to deter my actions. Because I want the world to see just how sad, pathetic a being I am. I do this not to seek their secret sympathy I look to harness their public contempt. I want their strained smiles at the shops and perfunctory hellos at bus stops, where they will mask their scorn with courtesy While i pretend not to see for none but God's thoughts define me so will my mind whisper. I want their scornful laughs burn the fires of shame in my heart And their joyful tears to season the bloody wounds on my back. I do this with no remorse And then i will be quiet and wait. Wait for the couragious amongst them to breach my sorrow with their questions And I will confess everything. This is for trust, I will say, for every lie she told which I took in, This is for hope, for that foolish belief I had in something so grim. This is for love, for loving without question or reason. And this, this is just for being plain foolish. I will tell them all that sorry tale of a pitious heart impaled And then just weep my despair loud in the street. © 2011 nathanReviews
