Family TreeA Poem by nathan
Family tree
If every leaf looked back far enough Find that single twig bearing a bunch Then maybe they would stop fighting For a spot in the sun If every twig looked back far enough In the breach ‘tween it and its brother Find that single branch Joining ‘him’ to ‘her’ twining their destinies into one Maybe then they would stop fencing in the wind. If every branch instead of up, down or sideways Looked back far enough unhindered by matters Of girth, color, length, inclination or place Then maybe, Just maybe At the very edge of sight Shrouded in the mists of long Forgotten ages of time; A bole shinny and smooth leading to the same root Planted in the same earth If only they looked back far enough. ©AR. © 2012 nathan |
