Poison RainbowsA Poem by Anthony Jfor the albatrosses of Midway AtollWe fastened poison rainbows to the stomachs of the birds, twisted vibrant plastics together into deathly braids and force-fed friendly beaks with our shameful leftovers. We Opened Happiness into their digestive tracts. They asked us politely not to choke them with our shoelaces, but we Just Did It anyway. And it Energized, so we Kept Going. Our slogans transformed into formless suffocation. And still they die and we kill still, but their deathnoise is muffled now. And we hear nothing over the screaming neon of industry.
